New lighting
Mash.T Design Studio is heading to the 100% Design Local Pavilion at Decorex Cape Town all the way from Joburg, bringing internationally celebrated creations to the Mother City. Their high-end handcrafted collectible designs have travelled to prestigious international institutions, including the Musée des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Founder Thabisa Mjo has made history as the first local designer with permanent pieces in these collections.
Mjo reimagines the familiar in new ways for ‘the good of the aesthete’. This is very much the case with the newest addition to the Mash.T collection: turning heads since its launch in April, the Smiley Pendant is a bold beaded lighting piece that will be available to shop at the 100% Design Local Pavilion. Don’t miss your chance to see this sculptural light in person.
Known for statement light fittings that take pride of place in wine estates, lodges and private homes across Africa, Greg Marshall brings his distinctive design language to the 100% Design Local Pavilion. He is set to present his new Node Pendant at the show, a striking lighting fixture in brass and ceramics that balances precision engineering with artistic expression.

Head-turning textiles
Looking for the latest fabric lines and textiles? Make a beeline for Stuart Graham Fabrics at the 100% Design Local Pavilion. Their comprehensive textile collections include affordable locally produced options complemented by luxurious international offerings through their exclusive partnership with Prestigious Textiles UK.
Furniture meets fashion in an incredible design collab between Curación Collection and UNI FORM, launching exclusively at Decorex Cape Town in the 100% Design Local Pavilion. This exciting debut, ‘Silhouettes in Dialogue’, comprises Curación Collection’s Clifton in Balance armchair dressed in a feathered gown by UNI FORM and the Clifton in Balance ottoman dressed in UNI FORM’s textured jacket. This is your chance to see these limited-edition pieces.
Founded by fashion-turned-interior designer Zahrah Moosa, House of Harhaz is all about mood, memory and material, and Zahrah’s luxury collection is all about nostalgia wrapped in beautiful craftsmanship. At the show, Zahrah will exhibit a limited-edition collection of textiles and handcrafted furniture that honours heritage while inviting play.
Step into African Jacquard’s enchanting world of textiles at the show and be captivated by their latest creation: the Kelp Forest Collection. This new collection is woven from a variety of natural fibres, such as cotton and linen, as well as SeaCell™, a future fabric combining cellulose fibres with organic brown seaweed, embodying the perfect synergy of nature and technology. At the show, expect to see a SeaCell™ and linen blanket, which is part of the Kelp Forest Collection.
African Jacquard will also be expanding into the outdoor space and showcasing their new boutique Outdoor Kuba Collection. Inspired by the rich
geometric patterns of traditional Kuba cloth from the Congo, this boutique collection marks a new chapter for the brand as it ventures into high-performance outdoor fabrics.
This year, Clout/SA is celebrating a decade of facilitating Nando’s Hot Young Designer (HYD) talent search and its ongoing collaborations with young local designers. Says Creative Director Tracy Lynch: ‘Clout/SA is super excited to have been invited to participate in this year’s New Reflections: 100% Design Africa Local Pavilion at Decorex Cape Town. To celebrate 10 years of Nando’s HYD we are showcasing a few designs from our first woven upholstery fabric collection for Nando’s, featuring patterns by four of our HYD pattern designers. The collection was launched in Manchester in the UK recently. The fabrics will be upholstered onto our iconic school chair – this humble chair manufactured by Naturalis is one of the top-selling products on the Portal to Africa. We have sold hundreds of this unique chair locally and globally and each time we sell one, we print a selected HYD pattern onto the chair’s back. The use of the pattern earns the pattern designer a licence fee and this passive income helps our pattern designers build their businesses. The pattern makers whose patterns have been woven into our new fabric collection – which is called Clout/SA Threads – are Thandazani Nofingxana, Spamandla Mdunyelwa, Lesego Maloko and Xolela Madlanga.’
Fine furniture and interiors
Interior design studio The Mood Collectives is set to unveil their brand-new Scandi occasional chairs, paired with their Luna side table, limited-edition Electric Blue coat stand, and a curated selection of organic pottery. Styled with luxe tweed scatter cushions, the full look captures their signature blend of high-end design and liveable charm. Visit their display, meet the designers and snap a photo – then tag them on Instagram for the chance to win a one-of-a-kind original The Mood Collectives handbag valued at R4 000.
Ananta Design Studio, led by sister duo Viveka and Rucita Vassen, will bring their colourful flair and fun-ctional art to the pavilion. They are considered to be at the forefront of local creativity through their playful reimagining of traditional techniques and their support of craft communities. Visitors will see their furniture pieces on the pavilion, while at Ananta’s standalone booth they are launching their new beaded vases. Also on display is the Klopse Blomme chair, created for a design challenge earlier this year.
TheUrbanative is also decamping from its Joburg base to form part of the Cape Town pavilion. Founder Mpho Vackier tells African stories through functional design. She specialises in contemporary South African furniture that leans into local traditions.
Founded by award-winning designer Ryan Olivier, Vitalli.creates collectible furniture that speaks to the raw, unfiltered beauty in imperfection – where precision meets intuition, and form followsfeeling. Vitalli.fosters a dialogue between presence and absence, permanence and change, structure and spontaneity. Each moment is meticulously crafted with passion, precision, and an uncompromising attention to detail. Vitalli. will be showcasing its AKKA Side Table, KARA Bench as part of the pavilion.
Inside or outside
Cape Town-based Indigenus creates desirable designer planters that showcase botanical beauty. From German designer Sebastian Herkner’s Aarde collection inspired by his South African honeymoon, to Haldane Martin’s organic Tuber planters, each design reveals a story of place and purpose.
This year, Indigenus will officially launch their newest range, Petra, by New York–based artist Fernando Mastrangelo. Known for his conceptual design and sculptural works influenced by ecological issues, Mastrangelo brings a bold new perspective to the Indigenus collection.
Must-see
‘This showcase reflects on where we’ve come from and where we’re headed, exploring themes of democracy in design, material innovation and creative collaboration,’ says Garreth van Niekerk. ‘By looking both back at our heritage and forward to new possibilities, New Reflections presents a vision for the future of South African design – one that is bold, inclusive and deeply rooted in our culture and craft traditions.’
