This year, there is even more to run for. With Timbercity marking its 50th anniversary and the 49th time the race is run, the milestone edition of the Red Hill Marathon promises an electrifying atmosphere, a powerful sense of community, and a race-day experience that captures five decades of craftsmanship, commitment, and heart.
This is a celebration of endurance, unity and the spirit that keeps South Africans running forward.
A greener first for South African road running
The Red Hill Marathon not only defines the season, it also makes history as South Africa’s first sachet and plastic-free race, featuring six MANZI self-help water dispensing systems.
A key qualifier on a scenic route
The Red Hill Marathon continues to be one of the Western Province’s most iconic events. It is the perfect kick-off to the 2026 running calendar and a vital qualifier for both the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon and the Comrades Marathon. Runners from across the country are already gearing up to take on one of the Cape’s most scenic and rewarding routes.
Race distances for every runner
42.2 km Marathon: Pure grit. Pure glory.
36 km Classic: A beloved tradition with a challenge all its own.
13 km Challenge: Fast, scenic and packed with energy.

All races start and finish at the buzzing Fish Hoek Sports Fields.
Celebrating 50 years by running greener
This landmark year brings a renewed commitment to sustainability. Through Timbercity’s RunGreen initiative, runners will receive a free 500 ml soft flask with their race number to refill at environmentally conscious water stations.
As Timbercity celebrates 50 years of crafting better, every participant is invited to help shape a stronger, greener future.
What runners need to know
Prize collection
Winners must be in full club colours and present at the prize-giving. No exceptions apply.
Cashless race
In support of Red Hill’s cashless transition, all prize money will be issued via EFT. Runners must collect their own prizes or make formal written arrangements with organisers. Uncollected prize money will be forfeited.
Easy number collection
To keep the build-up smooth and stress-free, runners can collect their race numbers at two Timbercity locations:
